TVCC Sets Up Enrollment Phone Bank

Questions about enrolling at Trinity Valley Community College? We’ve got answers.

TVCC will open a two-day phone bank to answer questions about enrollment on Wednesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 4, from 6-8 p.m.

The phone bank will be staffed by members of the Iota Alpha chapter of Phi Theta Kappa – the national honors society for two-year community and junior colleges.

“Sometimes people have questions but they don’t know how to get the answers,” TVCC Phi Theta Kappa advisor Nancy Long said. “What often happens is that person then ends up not registering, so we’re hoping to help those people stay connected to the process. If we don’t know the answer to a question, we’re going to assure the caller that we will get them in touch with someone who does.”

Online registration is underway for the Spring 2015 semester and continues through Monday, January 12.

Onsite registration will be held Tuesday, January 13. Spring semester classes begin Tuesday, January 20.

Prospective students who want to utilize the phone bank can call 903-670-2010 on Dec. 3-4. For general questions about registration, call 903-675-6217.

Chills and Thrills Halloween Event

Chills and Thrills and St. Philip's College (2)

On Friday, October 31, The Psi Kappa Chapter hosted a Chills and Thrills Halloween event for the students from Bowden Elementary.  As a chapter we served as tour guides and hosts for activities and games.  We provided information on several departments while giving these students a safe place to trick-or-treat. This event was a huge success with the help of our advisor Ms. Maria and co-advisor Mr. Williams we were able to receive donations of over 85 pounds of candy! This event could not have been such a success without the help of our officers, members and volunteers.

St. Philip’s Student Receives College Presidential Scholarship

Hannah Lee Mahaffey

Hannah Mahaffey, a member of the Psi Kappa Chapter, was selected to receive the St. Philip’s College Presidential Scholarship.  Many applications were summited, but only five of the applicants  ere chosen to receive this scholarship.  Hannah also received the Phi Theta Kappa Coca Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship.  The selection was based on her outstanding score she earned in the Phi  Theta Kappa Spring Common Scholarship Application.  This scholarship is designed to encourage participation in Society programs and to provide Phi Theta Kappa members with financial resources to help cover educational expenses while they are enrolled in a two year college.  With her hard work and dedication she plans on becoming a web and mobile developer.  Mahaffey currently serves as the IT officer for the Psi Kappa Chapter.
